Q. How do I prepare the Core for shipping back to Hill Country Custom Cycles?

A. Most people send back the entire handlebar assembly with cores attached. This allows us to disassemble the components properly to insure there is no damage to each component. However, following are instructions for disassembling the components from the handlebars and examples of how to pack them if you prefer to do it yourself.

PREPARING THE CORE PARTS FOR SHIPPING:

Remove all components from the handlebars. Be sure not to cut any wires or damage electrical components. Drain all fluid from master cylinders COMPLETELY (if fluid leaks during transit and makes the box wet, most carriers will return the package to the sender, plus brake fluid may damage paint or electrical components).Once fluids are completely drained, carefully bubble wrap each component so they do not get damaged during transit. Once we receive the cores, we will carefully inspect them for damage and issue a refund. If damage is found on any of the components which causes them to be unusable, we will reduce the amount of the core refund by the cost of that specific component. Here are photos of how the best packing job should look. Be sure to pack tightly so parts do not move during shipment. Scratched or damaged parts will not be accepted. All we are asking is for you to send them back to us how you would expect to receive them if they were being sent to you.

Including, in the box, a copy of the "Invoice for your Hill Country Custom Cycles order" email we sent to you when you placed your order will expedite your refund.

CORE CHARGE: In 2014 Harley changed up their controls and switches to a much more complicated system design called CAN/BUS. Though it is a much better design for the consumer, it made the price of these components exponentially more expensive than the controls on previous years. Our cost on these is well over $600 per set. In order to keep our prices down like we have in the past, we developed an exchange program. Much like buying a starter at an auto parts store, we will charge you a core charge when you make the purchase, and when we receive your existing components, we refund 100% of the core charge to you. You also have the option of taking these components OFF of your bike and sending them to us for the build and you can avoid the core charge. VERY IMPORTANT: You will not receive a refund if your cores are lost during shipping and you did not require a signature upon delivery. We do not accept cores that are damaged or marred. Pack your parts carefully so they do not move during shipping. When choosing a shipping carrier and method to return your cores, YOU MUST INSURE THE PACKAGE for the amount of the core charge and REQUIRE A SIGNATURE AT DELIVERY. Q. What is the difference between the COMPLETE, PREWIRED, and BASIC Kits?:

A. The COMPLETE Kit is the total package with it comes to handlebar kits. It is wired with our Plug and Play® wiring connections which are cut to the correct length for your bike and will result in the cleanest and fastest install, turning a 6-9 hour job into 3-5 hours. Also included are new switches and handlebar controls already assembled. Please note, that some models come with turn signals mounted on the handlebar controls. We only install wiring for those at the customer's request for an added charge. Really all you have to do is mount the handlebars and change the cables & brake lines. Just about anyone can do this in there garage in about 3-5 hours with the help of a couple buddy's and your favorite ice cold beverage.

The PREWIRED Kit is our do-it-yourself package with the handlebars completely wired. You have the option to add the Plug & Play® connectors (highly recommended) which will save time and make the task much more enjoyable. All you have to do is remove the switches and controls from your old bars and mount them on these bars. Once that is done you are ready to install the handlebars.

The BASIC handlebar kit is our most labor intensive package. Basically, you receive the handlebars of your choosing, with all the cables cut to the correct length to fit your bike. It DOES NOT come wired, meaning you must use the wiring from your handlebars to wire the new handlebars. The kit comes with wiring extensions that you must solder to your old wiring to extend your wiring to fit the handlebars. And it DOES NOT included handlebar switches and controls. You must remove the switches and controls from your old handlebars and install them on these new bars. The idea for the BASIC package is to save you money by allowing you to reuse your parts and do most of the work yourself.

NOTICE: References to Plug and Play®, Plug & Play®, Plug N Play®, and Plug in Play® all refer to our time saving, custom wiring harness for Handlebar Kits.

 

Q. I see TBW in a number of your grips, I need throttle by wire and want to make sure this is right. Does TBW stand for Throttle By Wire?:

A. Yes, in product listings you will see Throttle By Wire abbreviated with the letters TBW.

 

Q. How does one measure handlebars?

A. Please use the illustration below to help you understand how to take measurements. Be very cateful in taking your meansurements. Mistakes in taking measurements is a cause of ordering the wrong parts.  The height of the handlebars is measured from the bottom of the handlebars indicated by RISE in the graphic.

Please understand that you are responsible for returning parts in like new condition when you expect to receive a credit. Parts that have been installed cannot be sold to another customer and we will not accept them in return. APO's: 
Most companies do not ship to an APO address.  We strongly support our military and don't mind going out of our way to help you out as you do for us.  However, due to the time it takes to go to the post office and wait on a USPS clerk to ship each package, we do require you to get a Shipping Quote.

International:
We primarily use USPS Priority and Express Mail for our international shipping.  Priority mail takes a little longer and tracking information is limited.  All international orders may be subject to customs rates that will be charged by your home customs office. Hill Country Custom Cycles will not be responsible for return shipping on any international order for any reason, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Lost or Stolen Shipments:
Once the shipping company has scanned the package for delivery, HCC will not be responsible for lost or stolen packages.  All of our packages are shipped without a signature required so that the package may be left at your shipping address without you being there.  We can require a signature by the shipping company, but you must request this when placing your order.

Instructions for installing handlebars and working with wiring are in the Harley Davidson Shop Manual. You can purchase a manual for your specific model from any Harley dealer.. In addition, there are a couple of good videos on YouTube, search for "install handlebars on harley". If you still have questions please call before you guess at what to do.

Please check the condition of the merchandise immediately when you receive it. Make sure it has NOT BEEN DAMAGED in shipment. If you delay in reporting a problem, you run the risk of exceeding our 30 day return policy.

NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES BEYOND 30 DAYS OF THE INVOICE DATE AND NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES FOR PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.

There will be a 25% restocking fee on all items returned, or you can exchange it for something of equal or greater value.  In the rare case that we make a shipping mistake, rest assured that we will make arrangements to correct the issue.  Please call us at 512-264-7333 to get your RMA #.

Shipping and Handling is not refundable unless product is deemed defective, specifically not as described, or the incorrect item was shipped to you.

NO EXCEPTIONS, No returns will be accepted on used or installed parts, or parts that do not have the original packaging.

PROBLEMS WITH YOUR ORDER: You must report any problems with your order within 72 hours of the time you receive the product.  We will accept no exchanges 30 days beyond the invoice date.

LOST OR STOLEN PACKAGES: We offer NO REFUNDS for packages scanned as delivered to the correct address. We are not responsible for your package once it has been "scanned as delivered". If the package cannot be left in a safe place, then you should request a "signature confirmation" when placing your order.

When you need to make a return, contact us immediately at Returns@HillCountryCustomCycles.com to request an RMA# (Return Merchandise Authorization) within 10 business days of receipt of merchandise.  When shipping item back please reference the invoice #, and include a note explaining your reason for returning the item along with your contact information.  No refund request will approved without contacting us first.

WARRANTY POLICY

All HCC parts have a warranty of one year from the date of invoice. If an HCC part is determined to be defective, we will replace or repair the defective part as needed. HCC will cover shipping of the defective part to the customer, and return shipping of the defective part is the customer's responsibility unless other arrangements are made and approved by HCC. Parts not made by HCC are covered under that particular manufacturer's warranty policy only. HCC will not be held responsible for any labor expense associated with warranty part replacement unless the work was done at one of our authorized facilities.

Cable Kit Warranty - Important, Please Read!

Thank you for purchasing one of our custom handlebar kits. We have calculated all of your cable lengths based on information you have provided about your motorcycle and the type of handlebars you are using. The length of the cables provided are based on our experience and opinion of what will work best with your application. These lengths may need to be different depending on how the cable is routed, bike application, and other variables out of our control. PLEASE CHECK THE LENGTHS OF THE CABLES BEFORE INSTALLATION!!!!! You are welcome to exchange any of the cables we send for one of a different length if you think it is needed. Just call us at 1-877-755-HILL. However, the cable must be uninstalled and in the original packaging so that we have the ability to resell it as a brand new part. If you install it, you own it. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call us at 1-877-755-HILL.

Please use caution when putting on your grips. You must disassemble your switch housings to do this and in a lot of cases we have seen wires get pinched when clamping the housings back on to the handlebars. Also, when you install the brake master cylinder on the right side of the handlebars, you must pull in the brake lever when mounting it up to the switch housing. Failure to do so may result in a broken brake light switch which will cause your brake light to stay on, and will prevent your cruise control from working if equipped.

Also, we have tested all of your handlebar wiring for open circuits and any short that may cause a problem or blown fuse. Your handlebar wiring should plug directly into your OEM harness on the bike and all functions work properly. We advise you to plug the wiring in and test all of the switches before you completely put the bike back together or install the grips. If there is a problem, please call us right away so we can help you diagnose the problem and provide a solution. Please be aware that HCC will not pay for any labor charges to repair a defective item. So we ask you to please do this check first. LIMITED CHROME WARRANTY
Hill Country Custom Cycles chrome products have a one year limited warranty from the date of invoice.  The condition and appearance of chrome plating is largely dependent on user care and maintenance.  Maintain products properly by cleaning them with mild soap and water and waxing them with a high quality carnauba wax.  Small flaws and or marks do not constitute a flawed product. Corrosive defects due to salt spray in beach and snow areas, corrosive chemicals, improper care or cleaning are NOT COVERED by this warranty. Parts must be returned to Hill Country Custom Cycles for inspection for determination of repair, replacement or credit.  No replacement parts will be shipped prior to receipt of the return for inspection and determination of qualification of warranty.  We will make every effort to ship replacement parts in a timely fashion, however, please be aware that delays may occur dye to availability of parts.  No credit will be issued for labor or any other cost incurred beyond the original cost of the part.
